My weight gain journey began with my first boyfriend when I was seventeen, when he told me he thought women were more attractive with more weight and curves. I don’t remember what I said when he told me, but I agreed with him. I was 114 lbs at the time, and I had never liked how angular and bony I looked. I had been open to the idea of gaining some weight because I wanted to look more feminine and less like a rectangle. Then my boyfriend showed me a world on the internet that I had never even imagined.
Food became an integral part of my life very quickly. The food I had growing up was very plain and repetitive, but that changed when I started spending more time with my boyfriend’s family. Food was something that brought their family together; it was really something beautiful to experience, and is hard to put into words. It was also delicious, and I wanted more of it.
As I fell in love with my boyfriend and his family, I also fell in love with food, my weight gain, and myself. Through interacting with people online, I was able to grow in ways I felt I could not around people in my “real life.” I’m very thankful to the people who have helped me along the way–it gave me the confidence to be who I wanted to be. I learned to care about my food, where it comes from, how it’s grown, and how to cook it. The body grows and heals itself with what you feed it. I feel much sexier, healthier, and more spiritually alive now, eight years later and 60 lbs heavier. My then-boyfriend-now-fiance and I are very happy with how I’ve grown.
